Kathryn A. Kent, Esq.
Kathryn believes excellence in the practice of law requires a commitment to building relationships with your clients and creating solutions by implementing knowledge and perspectives from various professional fields, as well as, multiple areas of the law. Generally, she focuses her efforts within the practice areas of Intellectual Property, Internet Law, Immigration, Non-profit governance, and Government Relations and Regulatory matters.
Kathryn devotes a significant portion of her practice to Trademarks, Copyrights, and Advertising. Her practice also encompasses internet law issues and complex issues faced by new economy businesses whether in the areas of e-commerce, data security and privacy, or advertising and marketing issues. An avid supporter for strengthening communities, Kathryn is actively involved in increasing citizen access to the legislative process and working directly with non-native English speaking populations in receiving effective legal counsel. She also enjoys providing counsel to young musicians, writers, and artists regarding protection of creative works.
Prior to beginning private practice, Kathryn completed a clerkship for the Vermont Office of the Attorney General in the Consumer Protection and Anti-Trust Division. During her clerkship she worked on complex cases involving consumer fraud, statutory reform, anti-trust issues, regulatory compliance, and federal administrative law. In addition, Kathryn completed a clerkship with the Vermont State Legislature where she worked with legislative council. While at the legislature, she provided counsel and assistance to the judiciary committee. Her efforts included drafting a film piracy law to protect the rights of film makers, and extensive work on comprehensive legislation implementing crucial public protection measures.
Kathryn is admitted to practice law in Vermont, a member of the ABA, and member of Intellectual Property Division of the ABA.
